Complications

The following complications can be seen following ORIF of metatarsal fractures:

• Infection
• Wound complications
• Fracture malunion/nonunion
• Neuropathy
• Arthritis
• Instability
• Hallux rigidus
• Complex regional pain syndrome
• Hardware irritation

Complications should be promptly identified and addressed.
